By Geneva Griswold posted 09-17-2018 12:17

The Sustainability Committee (SC) seeks abstracts for papers to be presented at the upcoming AIC Annual Meeting in Uncasville, CT and New England, May 13-17, 2019. This year's theme is "New Tools, Techniques, and Tactics in Conservation and Collection Care." Submission of original research and work related to the theme are welcome, and any submissions related to sustainable conservation and preservation will be considered.

Topic ideas include:

- How does sustainability affect how you select, use, and dispose of materials?

- Have you developed any new tools or tactics to make your practice more sustainable?

- Have you implemented more sustainable practices in your institution?

- How does environmental, social, or economic sustainability affect your practice in a way now that it did not previously?

- What conservation techniques you have tried—successfully or not—to make sustainable?

Interested authors may submit abstracts via the OpenWater abstract submission portal.  Presentation length should be planned at 18-20 minutes to allow 10 minutes for questions and discussion.  Abstract submissions should not exceed 500 words with an additional 300-word speaker biography.  Please feel free to contact the Sustainability Committee with any questions at sustainability@conservation-us.org.
