Conservator: Works on Paper
£12,362 per annum i.e. pro-rated to the full time equivalent of £30,906 per annum.
Part-time, 16 hours (2 days) per week
Fixed Term Contract for 22 months
The National Portrait Gallery is looking to appoint a Conservator: Works on Paper that will be responsible, as part of a team, for the conservation and preservation of works on paper and photographs held in the National Portrait Gallery’s Collection.
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who have a MA degree in Conservation or previous experience in the Conservation of Works of Art on paper within a gallery or museum setting. A detailed understanding of Art on Paper, their requirements and conservation treatments is therefore essential. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to produce clear and accurate documentation. It is fundamental that the post-holder has good working knowledge and application of COSHH and of digital photography and image management databases.
Given the nature of this role, it is vital that the post-holder is able to work under pressure and organise their workload in order to meet key deadlines. You will need to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues within Conservation and across the Gallery. The post-holder will have line management responsibility, so candidates will need to have the ability to supervise, motivate and develop the Assistant Conservator: Works on Paper to achieve collective and individual goals.
