AIC-EC: Burn Workshop and Emergency Response

By Rebecca Kennedy posted 03-06-2019 11:13

In October 2018, the Smithsonian’s Preparedness and Response in Collections Emergency (PRICE) team worked alongside The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to create a mock collections storage fire. The team wanted to see how storage supplies withstood fire, smoke, soot and suppression, as well as practice recovery methods following such an event. The event was captured in separate blog post (posted below) by Conservator Nora Lockshin, AIC-PA and NIST. To learn more or if you have questions about the exercise, you can reach the PRICE team at NCP-PRICE@si.edu.
