In the “Young Adult Novel” , All the Greys on Greene Street, by Laura Tucker (Viking, 2019), it is 1981 and Olympia, the 12 year old daughter of an artist mother and art restorer father runs free in her not yet gentrified Soho (New York City) neighborhood with her friends Richard and Alex. The three  are frequent visitors to Olympia’s father’s conservation studio . Their lives are so different from the lives of today’s  over scheduled and over supervised  12 year olds that it is easy to imagine preteen readers  desiring such  lives—perhaps even with a conservation studio.   In a decade or so we’ll find out whether the novel motivated someone to go into the field of conservation.     #conservationfiction
