Formed in 1992, The purpose of the Research and Technical Studies group is to promote the advancement of scientific research in the field of conservation and to promote effective interaction of conservators and scientists in furthering the development of conservation practice. Research issues are important to all specialty groups, yet they are not the first priority of any other group. The function of this group is to support those who are involved in research efforts within the conservation field, and to help promote and advance scientific efforts in conservation. Another function of this subgroup is to foster increased interaction and communication between conservators of all disciplines and scientists of all disciplines relevant to conservation.
