1. ECPN – Moderated Panel – Conservation in a Changing World

Conservation is a constantly developing field. As conservators, we are examining our role both in museums and in broader global communities. In the past year, we’ve seen an influx of conversations surrounding core concepts concerning levels of education, equity and inclusion, discriminatory and predatory salary practices, and how these areas intersect with each other. With this panel we hope to reflect on the future of our profession; how we can work towards creating a more equitable and diverse field, what can be done about increasing salaries to be commensurate with education level, and how the increasing number of PhDs will affect equity, diversity, and salaries. We plan to engage with our panel, consisting of emerging and established professionals, as they collectively reflect and discuss many of the changes our field is currently seeing. Panelists include: Glenn Wharton, Sanchita Balachandran, Anisha Gupta, Joy Bloser, and Kris Cnossen.

2. ECPN – Poster Session

This poster session by the ECPN Outreach Officers highlights the ECPN Liaison Program, which began as a way to connect emerging conservation professionals in far-flung regions and has developed into a robust network with over 50 liaisons facilitating conversation, support, and community throughout the country. The poster outlines the four different liaison programs offered and will highlight ways Liaisons have collaborated, grown, served their communities, and promoted awareness of the field this term, despite major obstacles to gathering due to the pandemic.
