The May 3, 2019 issue of Science contains an article by Kai Kupferschmidt  titled “In Search of Blue”.  Its sections cover the discovery of YInMn Blue, attempts by Japanese scientists to create blue roses, blue pigments for food, the attempt by British scientists to replicate the deep blue colored mineral ringwoodite, and the synthesis  and use of blue pigments from antiquity to the present. There’s a lot of interesting material for the conservator and for anyone interested in blue colorants.     #conservationinthenews
