In the May 4, 2020 issue of The Wall Street Journal, Kelly Crow writes about the plans museums and galleries are making to insure the physical safety of their visitors once they are allowed to reopen ( “Museums Update Rules for Visitors”). There among the talk of guided paths, closure of interactive displays, and removal of wall labels (which visitors tend to cluster around) is the news that Stephen Bonadies, a conservator at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has developed an algorithm to determine how many people can be safely accommodated in several of the Museum's rooms during the run of a special exhibit. Kudos to the conservator for being the one to provide concrete data that can be used to develop the new guidelines.    #conservationinthenews
