Pay scale & grade: GS 14 

Salary: $121,316 to $157,709 per year

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is seeking to appoint a dynamic individual to lead our heritage science program.  The director will be responsible for directing, planning and administering a full-scale, multidisciplinary program of heritage science research and testing to support the long-term preservation of the NARA's holdings. Our world class holdings range from the iconic Charters of Freedom, documents, bound volumes, artifacts, audios, videos to motion pictures.    The director will deliver an ambitious program of world class research in collaboration with preservation professionals within the National Archives, allied conservation organizations, the higher education sector, and heritage science initiatives nationally and internationally.   Heritage science research is set within the context of NARA's Preservation Strategy and the 3 year Heritage Science Research Strategy  A fuller description of our ambitious program of preservation, as well as our current scientific research can be found at archives.gov/preservation.
