The American Museum of Natural History seeks a part-time, term Conservation Technician who will assist a team of conservators in preparing objects for display in upcoming temporary and permanent exhibitions.

The Conservation Technician will document specimen condition following standardized written and photographic methods; annotate digital images with condition details, as needed, and; archive and process images following conservation procedures.  Under guidance, the technician will accomplish basic conservation treatment of AMNH specimens in preparation for display and document mount requirements as well as mount installation details.  He/she/they will support the Director of Conservation in tracking progress and scheduling and assist with general lab maintenance, monitoring, inventories, etc.

Requirements: 
BA or BS in art conservation, art, art history, natural science, or related field.

2+ years of museum experience working in a conservation laboratory or with a museum collection; experience with natural science collections a plus.
Working knowledge of museum object handling standards, museum object condition reporting standards, museum collection databases.
Basic knowledge of conservation standards and material properties.
Must be able to pursue multiple project goals simultaneously and possess strong time management skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and capacity for meticulous care in the handling of collection materials.
Competence in Mac computer platforms, Adobe Creative Suite software, and basic use of a digital SLR camera.
