Job Summary
Phoenix Art Restoration seeks a qualified paper conservator/restorer to perform and manage the restoration of works on paper for public, private, and commercial sources. The position calls for treatments on a wide range of works from all periods. This is a permanent, full time position in the Seattle area. Benefits include medical, dental and vision as well as paid vacation. Will consider partial compensation for relocation cost as well.

Phoenix Art Restoration is a growing, independent, regional facility providing comprehensive conservation services in Paintings, Objects, Paper and Textiles, As well as providing custom framing, transport, and installation services.

Major Job Responsibilities 

  • Applies knowledge of current best practice in conservation ethics and conservation/restoration techniques, policies and procedures to all tasks
  • Evaluates, and recommends treatment.
  • Communicates with clients to advise regarding treatment, cost, and time lines.
  • Collaborates on inter-departmental projects
  • Retrieves from storage, handles and transports works of art
  • May be asked to make presentations to professional audiences or the general public
  • May be asked to advise colleagues from other institutions
  • Maintains written and photographic documentation of all work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, studio arts, conservation, design, engineering, industrial arts, or equivalent experience.
  • 4-7 years direct or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic working knowledge of computer office systems and image handling.
  • Knowledge of proper art handling and storage protocols.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
