Preservation Arts is seeking to hire a full-time Paper Conservator.
Preservation Arts is multi-disciplinary conservation company based in Oakland, California. Working out of a museum-quality studio, we provide exceptional conservation and preservation services to a large client base that include museums, city institutions, galleries and important private collections.
Responsibilities will include conservation assessment, research, treatment, and documentation of works on paper, as well as meeting with clients and preparing estimates for treatments. Projects may include a broad range of paper-based artworks from different periods, although our primary focus is on contemporary and modern art.
A Master’s Degree in Conservation, with a specialism in works on paper is required, as well as strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills. Ideally, the conservator should possess a wide range of hand skills including some experience in the treatment of books or photographs.
