The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden seeks a chief conservator to lead the modern and contemporary art conservation laboratory. Part of the Smithsonian Institution, the Hirshhorn is the national museum of modern art with an exciting exhibition program and institutional traditions of research and scholarship. The chief conservator directs the activities of the experienced team of conservation professionals, performs research and conservation treatments, and coordinates with the collections care and management department and museum professionals at large. In addition to expertise in the examination, documentation and treatment of modern and contemporary artworks (in any discipline) the chief conservator is skilled in management, supervision and administration of projects and programs.
