Just imagine what that sum of money could have done if it had been donated for risk management and preventive conservation programs

According to an article by Vanessa Friedman in the April 17, 2019 issue of The New York Times (“Luxury Industry Steps Up for Restoration Aid”), by Tuesday April 16th, more than 600 million Euros (about $675 million) had been pledged by LVMH, Kering and other luxury goods companies towards the restoration of fire-related damages to the Cathedral of Notre Dame. As wonderful as this is (and in recent years, luxury goods companies have funded the restoration of other historic monuments), just imagine what that sum of money could have done if it had been donated for risk management and preventive conservation programs.   #ConservationintheNews
