  • 1.  B-72 problems

    Hello!
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make an acetone/B-72 mixture less stringy? I typically would just buy something premade from Gaylord but my institution already had the B-72 pellets so I took a shot at making it myself.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Corrine,

I would suggest making a mixture of 60% acetone/40% ethanol. It slows the setting time a bit. (Source: Stephan Koob / (B-72 adhesive god)

I have uploaded an article for those interested:

    Corrine,
I should have added this article by Stephan:

When working with the pellets, it often takes several days for them to properly dissolve into solution if you don't have access to a vibrating or magnetic mixer as typically found in chemistry labs.   To facilitate the process of getting the pellets evenly dissolved, many people in the paleontology community will suspend the pellets using a cotton bag or tea strainer to prevent clumping.  One example of those methods can be seen here:

I would increase the ratio of solvent to the B-72 resin, provided that did not adversely affect the suitability of the product for what you're using it for.
