Sue Ann Chui is a Senior Conservator in the department of Painting Conservation at the National Gallery of Art where she is specialized in the care of paintings on wood. Before joining the National Gallery in 2019, Sue Ann worked at the J. Paul Getty Museum first as an Assistant then Associate Conservator. Previously, she had been a post-graduate intern at the Hamilton Kerr Institute, Cambridge University; a Samuel H. Kress Fellow at the Conservation Center, New York University; and an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow at the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore. Sue Ann is a past program chair of the Paintings Specialty Group; and has served on the board of the Western Association for Art Conservation, most recently as President. For the current ICOM-CC Triennium 2023-2026, she is the Coordinator of the Paintings Working Group. Sue Ann earned her BA from Vassar College with a major in Art History and minor in Italian; and an MA in Art History and Diploma in Conservation from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.
