Frequently Asked Questions

No. The Approved Assessor list is sent to participating institutions, who can select their assessor at will.

Do your best to work with the institution to overcome any obstacles. Keep in mind that you have signed a contract with them, and are subject to the clauses of that contract. If you experience ongoing challenges that may impact your ability to complete the assessment before the deadline, contact us.

A detailed fee schedule should be part of your contract with the institution. Please see the contract template for a guide. See also the costs and process pages for more information.

After the final report is submitted, along with the invoice and feedback form, CAP staff verify that the institution has received the final report and then will process the allocation payment. Payment for the allocation fee from FAIC should arrive within four weeks of the receipt of the final report and invoice. Any remaining fees will come directly from the institution.

We want to hear from you! If you serve as an assessor, you will receive opportunities to provide feedback on each assessment experience via an online survey. These surveys provide vital information that help us understand the effectiveness of the program. But we are also interested in hearing additional ideas or concerns you have. With your help, we can continue to improve the program each year. Contact program staff at cap@culturalheritage.org.

FAIC administers the CAP Program under a cooperative agreement with the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

FAIC's CAP Program staff are responsible for developing program materials with guidance from a Steering Committee, reviewing applications, guiding assessors and institutions through the program steps, processing assessor payments, and evaluating and adapting the program.

We are always willing to talk about your questions, challenges, and suggestions. You can call us at 202.750.3346 or email us at cap@culturalheritage.org.
