Mississippi Alliance for Response

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Alliance for Response is now the Mississippi Alliance for Response (MS AFR)! In 2026, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Alliance for Response expanded to cover the state, changing its name to reflect a new chapter in its efforts to bring together emergency management officials, cultural heritage leaders, and state and local government representatives to protect our state’s heritage during disasters. 

 

The MS AFR is dedicated to:

  • Empowering cultural and historic resources to be a self-reliant community and support each other when the unexpected happens
  • Increasing the resilience of the cultural and historic resources community through education, planning, and training 
  • Partnering with emergency management to train and assist in emergency operations centers
  • Prioritizing the well-being of individuals over any object, collection, or site

 

The MS AFR  is seeking active members; no prior experience necessary!

 

The MS AFR is also seeking an institutional home to provide:

  • Generic email address for MS AFR 
  • Cloud storage for MS AFR  documents
  • Simple website for MS AFR 
  • Fiscal agent for grants and other funds
